It’s time for some yummy protein shake recipes!

Whether you are following a meal plan or simply want to add some new flavours to your shakes and smoothies while eating clean, it’s always great to try a few new flavours and recipes, especially when you’re like me and get bored quickly if you have the same shake twice or three times a week… Protein shakes can be a healthy meal replacement or an easy way to provide your body with all sorts of protein pre or post workout. Just make sure you pick your protein powder wisely and have a read through the different types of protein powders to make sure it suits your needs and fitness goals before you purchase one.

Blending a shake usually only takes 5 minutes to make and makes up a super delicious breakfast. Check out my favourite protein powders below – blended in with some shake recipes that I like to use within a healthy and balanced diet.

Please note – the method is always the same for all recipes listed:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender
  2. Blend until a smooth consistency is formed
  3. Pour the protein shake in a large glass to serve
  4. Alternatively, opt for a bottle or shaker-cup if you like to have your shake to go 🙂

1. Chocolate Banana Berry Shake

Ingredients

 

Topping
  • 1 tbsp. goji berries
  • 2 tbsp. desiccated coconut
  • 2 small banana slices

 

2. Orange Berry Protein Smoothie

  • 1 cup organic frozen mixed berries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 orange, peeled and segmented
  • 120g Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. natural protein powder (I like to use the Whey Protein Concentrate from wheydirect.com.au)

 

3. Strawberry Protein Shake

Strawberry Protein ShakeIngredients
  • 2 tbsp. natural vanilla protein powder (my favourite one is the Raw Protein Isolate from amazonia)
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 3-5 baby spinach leaves
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes

4. Avocado Peanut Protein Shake

  • 2 tbsp. natural protein powder
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 3 tbsp. peanut butter
  • 5 brazil nuts
  • 4 tsp. rice malt syrup or honey
  • 1 cup ice

 

5. Mango Madness Smoothie

pomegranate smoothieIngredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh mango, cubed
  • 1 medium size pomegranate (deseeded)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp. coconut protein powder (I normally use Trueprotein’s Weight Loss Blend)
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • dash of vanilla essence
  • dash of cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp. coconut sirup
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup filtered water

 

Topping (optional)
  • pomegranate seeds
  • 5 thin slices of pear
  • mint
